Veteran Women United was born out of Cookie Carlson’s own journey as a woman veteran navigating the complexities of military life, transition, and the aftermath of service.
Cookie realized that many of her fellow women veterans may have, like herself, felt isolated and misunderstood, grappling with issues that were specific to their experiences.
Despite her bravery and resilience, she lacked a supportive community where they could openly share their struggles and triumphs.
Driven by a deep desire to foster connection, Cookie envisioned a haven where women veterans could gather, share stories, and uplift one another.
She believes that through authentic dialogue and collaboration, these remarkable women cannot only find solace in shared experiences but also access vital resources tailored to their unique needs. Thus, Veteran Women United was established—a space dedicated to empowerment, education, and encouragement.
From the very beginning, Cookie made it her mission to create a holistic support system. She is organizing workshops, mentorship programs, and wellness initiatives that address various aspects of life after service, from mental health to career development. By cultivating an inclusive atmosphere, Veteran Women United is transforming into a thriving community where women veterans can forge lasting friendships, develop new skills, and find the strength to overcome their challenges together.
Cookie's unwavering commitment continues to inspire women veterans to embrace their identities, reclaim their narratives, and thrive in every aspect of life.
